Hurrican Ike in Ky....yes KY!!

Well...we now know why we live in Kentucky, b/c we wouldn't be able to handle living on the coast and dealing with hurricane season. It has been the longest 4 days EVER!
When we got up Sunday there was a slight breeze, but by 1000 am, it was no longer a "slight breeze" more like a wind tunnel. It was the craziest thing I have ever experienced!! They eventually said winds were clocked around 75 mph, CRAZINESS! I didn't think it was going to be that bad until I began chasing our garabe cans, patio cushions and my ferns around my yard ( not a fun sight I'm sure). I had eagle eyes Layni directing to the next thing to run after. "Mommy there goes another cushion." "Mommy there goes the table!"
Mom and Dad were on there way home from a trip and called to check in and wondered why I wasn't at church which I kindly replied, "It's crazy out there, I'm not getting out in this." They soon picked up on the fact that I was FREAKING OUT!!
James, who was at work, called soon after and wondering what things were like at our house. Things at that time, not too bad, we hadn't lost a tree YET. After the phone calls ended, that's also when the electricity decided to not work. Oh how nice.
Layni wanted to know why she was being punished and couldn't watch Spongebob and why no lights were on in the house and why I wasn't cooking something to eat. Trying explaining to a 3 year old why there is no electricity, yeah not easy.
Too make a LLOONNGG story short. The kids spend Sunday through Wednesday with my parents you had a generator, while James and I worked Monday, Tues and Wednesday (b/c hospitals and paper mills go about their business). Finally Wednesday afternoon THERE WAS ELECTRICITY. James called and said he had emptied out the refrigerator and my job, if I choose to accept it, was to start the mission of getting groceries.
It was a wonderful Wednesday night watching our own TV, in our own house with electricity and not needing a flash light to go from room to room. Now on to clean up, cutting trees and picking up trees. Oh, you may be wondering has the house gone of for sale, needless to say we have a had a slight set back considering we have huge trees down in the yard....but soon, very soon!!
THANK GOD FOR TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENTS AND ELECTRICITY!!!!

Renovations...

So...we have a new roof and are in our final week of projects for the Knottsville house. So needless to say, we are still on track, but have a TON of projects for this upcoming week. James has took his last vacation to finish this house, isn't life grand! We have also began all the renovations on the farm house as well. The house is cleared out and painting is starting today! YEAH. Soon, the carpet will have to be ripped out and the old tile floor took up, that should be a fun project.
Layni doesn't completely understand us moving into Papaw's house. She still thinks my mom and dad have lost old Papaw. Oh to be young and so innocent, life was so much easier!
Brooks is attempting to let go of things and try and take a step, but he is figuring out that he can crawl faster than attempting such a big act!
Classes and clinicals are full swing. I have a had a moment...I am FINALLY tired of school. 252 days and it will be over. What a nice thought.
